Well some pokemon seem like they should be. Chester and I were discussing this on MSN and some pokemon seem like they would be specific in genders. Like Mr. Mime, heck it's even got MISTER in it's name but it can be female! Jynx is always female so why not Mr. Mime! Another one I kinda think this way about is Jigglypuff, because most guys wouldn't want to be a pink round thing with 'jiggly' and 'puff' in it's name, plus there's the hair. . . but which pokemon do you guys think should be gender specific?
The problem with Mr. Mime is that in Japan, it's name has nothing to do with "Mr." or being male. When it was given an English name, I suppose the producers didn't think that they'd ever have to worry about genders, seeing there were no genders in Red, Blue and Yellow when Mr. Mime was created. So yeah, that's why there are female Mr. Mime.

I know a few guys who actually like Jigglypuff xD IMO just because a Pokemon looks girly, it shouldn't mean it can only be female. Having too many gender specific Pokemon wouldn't really make sense either, seeing that when you think about Pokemon in the real/anime world, they'd have to reproduce somehow, and I can't see too many of them breeding with Ditto xD

That being said, I've always thought Machop and it's evolutions should be male, and Gardevoir and Kirlia seem like they should be female.
Sarah's right. Its to do with translation and what not. Japanese names =/= English names.

I always thought of Machop as male but what's to say girls can't be muscle people too? Toungue
I always though Hitmonchan was a cheerleader that fights, thus why I always thought it was more on the girly side.
I always thought Clefairy would be a girl for the same reason you all thought Jigglypuff would be a girl.

he does wear some sort of skirty thing. . .
As a person who did Tae-Kwon Do, that is the traditional dress. It's more a long shirt... So no, Hitmonchan isn't specifically Female...
About Mr. Mime, Mime Jr. looks like a girl more then a boy. If gender was the case, the evolution of them wouldnt' exist. A girl turning into a boy?
The only one that I really don't understand is Gardevoir being Male, even though Male Gardevoir is awesome.
Well, not anymore. Soon Gardeviour will be only female...
