To trade with DS would i have to get that WiFi thing that i stick in my USB?
You could use that. There's also the old way with the Link Cable. Works the same way. 
Just to clarify, the USB receiver will only work if you have ADSL/Broadband. The DS will also work on any standard wireless network.
I love DS trading, but I can't use it, yet. No D/P for it to work. It doesn't work with the GBA Game Wireless, either...

Well DS wireless is a REAL wireless protocol, unlike GBA which was just a dodgey receiver/transmitter.

Even I knwe that hehe. If this is a 'how do you trade' in general, I usually use my SP and my GBA Player and trade that way, I've done 100s of trades (literally) between those 2 machines. I do also use Wireless sometimes but I hate the Union Room. I hate the fact eggs can't be traded over to Emerald, FR or LG until after the Elite 4. On Ruby and Sapphire you can get them as soon as you trade, meaning you could get Bulbasaurs and all sorts on there.
