UM, they're..... not that bad.. and their normal watermelons
They're grown and placed inside a hollow box like shell, and the watermelon grows inside and becomes boxed.

Probably not, You have to grow them inside a shape, and the side would be crushed as it went up the arm of the star.
Then again, it may work.
