Hey everyone!

This thread will be similar to the Pokémon Gaming Help Thread, whereby if you suffer from problems, people can drop in, post their question (if someone hasn't already asked it and got an answer) and then hopefully one of the members can reply with the answer. This can be any kind of Trading Problems or Issues, as well as technical do-dads and such. So let's get to the basics so that we might be able to prevent some questions that can occur commonly. I don't have a copy of DP, so sometimes I will state assumptions and say I have assumed them (but I'm pretty sure they're right)

What's a Friend Code?
A Friend Code is basically a code generated when you first go online, it's your identity and a way for Friend's to be able to search solely for your friends.

How do I get my Friend Code?
Sarah sums this one up nicely here:
Sarah Wrote:-Go into the Oreburgh City Pokemon Center
-Head downstairs to the Wi-Fi Club
-You will be stopped and given your Pal Pad
-Talk to the ladies on the left to login to WiFi
-After you've logged on your Friend Code will show up on your Pal Pad
You can go to any Pokémon Centre though (I believe). In MKDS, the DS and Friend Card are almost fused together when your Friend Code is generated, meaning the DS you originally go online on is the DS you'll have to go on every time you use that card, so make sure you're using your own DS!

How do I get online?
3 ways!
1) Check the Nintendo Wifi Wesbite and search for a hotspot by entering your address. If you are in a close enough range to one of the hotspots pointed out (you have to be fairly close, less than a half a mile to one roughly), you should have an internet source ready for your DS without moving. Hotspots can be found in restaurants, petrol/gas stations and all sorts of places.
2) If you have Wireless Broadband, your wireless router acts like a hotspot, sometimes you have to turn down security settings though, so you can get in.
3) Buy a Nintendo USB Adaptor if you aren't within a hotspot or without wireless broadband. With very fast dial-up or regular broadband, turn your computer on (to get a broadband connection to the internet) and dial-up to the internet (if dial-up). Plug in this doo-hicky into the USB slot and then it acts like a regular hotspot.

Those should be just about right, if there's anything I should add and so on, please tell me and I will! But ask your GTS questions here, these are more for technical and in game problems, so don't let this become an organisation thread for what Pokémon you want. Only if you find something can't be traded, lost connections all the time and so on...

Happy Trading and Onlining!
Hi, I've been having a problem with the GTS. I've been trying to post pokemon on it for others to see and hopefully trade for. However, when I select the pokemon and confirm, it gives me a message about checking the GTS system, and that's all it does. It just sits there "checking" - I can't back out of it or anything. None of my buttons work and I have to turn the DS off to get out of it. I have no problem finding pokemon through searches. Of course ppl want outrageous things like a lvl 100 Dialga for a lvl 1 female starter, so I can't trade there. And that's why I'm trying to post my pokemon for others to find through searching. Does the freezing my machine is doing sound like a normal problem?
I'm sick of shops with no competent layout, so I'll make one for you guys.

Code:
[b][i]INSERT NAME HERE's shop[/i][/b]

[b]Pokémon on offer:[/b]

[list]
[*]
[*]
[*]
[*]
[*]
[/list]

[b]Pokémon wanted:[/b]

[list]
[*]
[*]
[*]
[*]
[*]
[/list]

[b]Other notes:[/b]

[list]
[*]
[*]
[/list]

So, copy and paste that, and you can add extra asterisks for additional Pokémon. You may, of course, take some away, aswell.

As an example: (Note, this is NOT real)

--------------------------

chester's shop

Pokémon on offer:
  • Garchomp, Level 78, Male, Shiny, Jolly Nature
  • Bellossom, Level 41, Female, Adamant Nature
  • Krabby, Level 81, Male, Timid Nature

Pokémon wanted:
  • Bronzor, Any Level, Any Gender, Shiny
  • Lucario, Any Level, Any Gender, EV trained, Timid Nature

Other notes:
  • No hacked Pokémon
  • My friend code is 1160 6788 4576. Please PM me your code, so that I can add you.

--------------------------

If everyone uses this, everything will be smoother, and much simpler.

Of course, exact copies are not needed.

Just though this may help.

Sticky if worth it.
I'll sticky this, but it's people's own responsibilities to make their shops work in the first place really. Nice though, obvious to many but nice to those who it isn't obvious too.
Yeah, I've noticed some of the "Less Grammar Caring" members have been making shops.
Unfortunately, it seems they just write tonnes of names...
Yes, I have seen places saying, Empoleon, Torterra, Blaziken, Uxie, Luxray, Palkia, Dialga, Corphish, Glalie, Froslass, Pidgeot, Hoohtoot......, ......, ......., ........, ......., ......., ........, .......... , ...... and pages like that aren't easy to swallow, I mean read!
Also, do try and put your offset as UTC/GMT. It makes it an awful lot easier for people to be on at the required times.
will i be able to use wi-fi if im playing from an emulator on my pc(though internet connection?)

Nope, my cousin has tried it
Not that I should be answering this but it's dependent on the emulator. It's not like it would be a great hassle to implement since Nintendo DS uses existing protocols anyway.

But right now, I don't think any support wi-fi.
