I can't believe I'm having to write this out.

There's a few DO's and DONT's when you're trading via the Global Trade System and here's my short list of them:

DON'T ask for stupid trades. NOBODY, and I do mean NOBODY is going to trade you your Burmy for a Palkia/Dialga/Giratina/Cresselia. Seriously. Female Burmy for Female Combee is a fair trade though.

DO try to make your trade reasonable. Don't offer a Bastiodon at level 26 and expect a Bastiodon at level 57 in return. That's just plain stupid.

DO offer your own pokémon. If you are given a Vespiquen by a friend, and you suddenly find a Female Combee of your own, trade the Combee and keep the Vespiquen. Female Combee are more valuable to trainers who know what they're doing - besides, do you WANT to waste all the effort of training that Vespiquen by trading it away?

DON'T be too specific. If you ask for a Female Wurmple at Level 100, you'll probably never get one. Who's gonna put the effort of training a Wurmple to Level 100 and THEN trade it, just so they can get a Level 30 Phione? Try to be general with your trade, no specific level, no specific gender. This means your friend will likely trade you a lower level Pokémon for the one you want. The lower the level, the more 'customisable' your Pokémon is.

This is fairly useful, I'll move it to GTS and delete the other thread (you created it twice).

This'll be useful for when I actually get D/P.

Although, I think being specific with the Gender of the Pokémon is fair enough, due to the differences in appearance now an individual may prefer one about the other (like, I prefer the female Vileplume due to its altered pattern).

XP Yes they will.
I've gotten a whole bunch of random legendaries from GTS for Lv. 1 Glameow. Yes, I'm not kidding.
For some reason, the only people who will make trades like that are the Japanese.

Ive found out that a Dialga is wanted more than Palkia.
I dont know why but if u had a choice between getting a palkia and a dialga get dialga

Here's one.
DONT ask for pokemon that are impossible to get, such as level 9 or under Charizard because Charmeleon evolves into charizard at level 36

Let me also point out a couple things.

Arceus and Shaymin can only be gotten from a glitched Japanese copy of Diamond and Pearl. The events have not happened yet. A cheated Pokemon could mess up your game. Don't let the glitz and glamour of a these Pokemon betray you. Be a smart Pokemon trainer, and don't fall into a trap.

Oh GAWD! *hugs Flora the Shaymin* is this true? I got it from trades but will it hurt my game? O_o I didn't notice anything yet!...>_< *scared*

There is Action Replay as well, at least people on here claim they do, but they're giving out such Pokémon so getting ones like that freely doesn't imply they're one off glitches.
