I hope this is in the right place if it is not I'm sorry.

I have decided to download gimp on because: one I was not happy with my old program and two my old program was a demo and it is about to expire. Also the full version cost like 80 bucks. Well anyway I want to know what Gimp thing to download. I have a laptop so I don't think it has much storage capacity. So give me your opinions on Gimp.
Well, this should be in Smeargle's GFX, but no harm done!

GIMP is mostly known as the free alternative to Photoshop, usually a program that costs about $500+. So that means GIMP is awesome for people on a budget [like me]. Its one of those SAFE and FREE things that you rarely find that are of use. I know what its like, and so do a few other members here.

I'd say it is worth the download if you want to try a hand at GFX'ing, and if you come to the conclusion that its a waste of memory, its easy to un-install.

Hope I answered your questions! :]

BTW, what was the old program?
GIMP is pretty good as an open source graphics editor, but if you're not on to learning, then you're definately going to have some trouble with GIMP, because it takes a while to master if you don't take practice or read tutorials.
But everyone has to start somewhere, right? Just use the beginner tuts at first, and take it from there. The beginner ones even show you what button you are actually supposed to press.
Thanks guys you are awesome. Big Grin What are tuts and what package should I get here?
Well, I can't answer that question, but if its a Windows laptop, go to here.
Ok thanks. I used that but when I try to open it it stops at fonts and it says gimp is not responding... Sad What should I do?
Umm, try again? Sorry, I'm not technical like that.
I did what it told me to at the link you gave me and I downloaded it and I tried to open it and it won't open does that mean I did it wrong?
I don't know, but did you download the GTK Runtime stuff? You need that, too.
