DO NOT COUNT THE MULTI-POSTING FOR SPAM; THIS WAS PAUL'S IDEA!

MMC Rules
Since all the newbies can't find the Rules in the little place called "mt. Moon Bulletin", I've decided to copy them here as well. READ BEFORE POSTING! WE DO NOT TOLERATE RULE-BREAKING!

Due to recent issues and oncomming bans of fellow members, it's time to enforce some rules. For the first few months these rules will be pretty tight, so we can make this forum a much better and more mature place to visit. Listen to them and keep yourself out of trouble. =]

1. Don't spam. Spam includes posts that have no revelence to the topic at hand, random advertising, posts just to make your post count raise, posting just to post, posting just to get the next reply, etc. Posts under 7 words are considered SPAM and will be deleted by mods.

2. Respect all members. That means don't flame, insult personally, etc. Try and keep arguements to PM - that's part of respecting the board as a whole, not subjecting them to your pity arguements. Furthermore, this entails respecting the staff and their decisions. You're free to voice an opposing opinion, but don't go "OMG UR WRONG AND SHOULD DIE!" Also, don't try and order the staff around. Harsh criticism also needs to be kept on the milder side for those who are new to a topic and don't understand the full essence of what they're working with. This includes XHTML, art, writing, rping, etc.

3. Keep all posts within a PG-13 limit. This means to not overabuse swear words (please, if you can, don't use them at all), no posting of sexual content, etc.

4. Be aware of what you're posting in. You should look over an entire thread before you reply, so that you know what you're replying to.

Abuse of these rules will cause you to get one warning each, three warnings will get you temp banned for a week. Any vulgar images or vulgar spam will be grounds for a permaban.

Newb and n00b guide

Welcome to my guide to "n00bs". This program brought to you by Partylocker Company, and Cyborg Koalas. (The title of this topic is an example of what not to do)

What is a "n00b"?
n00b is internet slang for an annoying person that often spams or acts in ways that members find patheic. A Newb on the other hand, is just a person who is new to the forum. n00b is DIFFERENT than newb. However, newbs can turn into n00bs quickly after they join. Got it? Good.

n00bish Stunts
Here are some things that the forums have adapted as "n00bish" (i.e. stupid, unnecessary, pathetic, LOOKED DOWN UPON BY OTHERS)

Bad grammar, and spelling. Don't get lazy and use numbers instead of letters. Spell the words out, so that people can actually read it!
Overuse of punctuation. I know sometimes you get overexcited, but really, is "HI, lyke zomg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111 " needed? Also, don't let your fingers die on you and let the exclamations become "1"'s.

Multiple posting. This is the biggest one. Sometimes you might be impatient, but please don't post more than once in a row. Wait for a response like a normal person. There's something called the "Edit" tool people, USE IT.
Begging and Annoyance. On forums, I often find it pathetic when someone posts "will u visit my site/forum plzplzplpzlzplzpzlzpzlpzlzplz!" or "what? why u make this thread i dont get it".

Spam. This kind of like Annoyance. When you make unnecessary or stupid/worthless posts that do not contribute to the conversation in the topic/thread.
Flaming. When you say mean or rude things to someone, about someone, or if you "attack" their beliefs.

n00b Slang
The internet has created over time, its own language in a sense. n00bs are lazy and don't want to type out real words, so they use these. There are words of internet slang that are looked down upon such as "ph34r", and some that everyone uses that are okay to use frequently such as "omg".

Not to be used
plz- Please
ph34r- Fear
thx- Thanks
b4- Before
cul83r- See you later
evry1- Everyone
ez- Easy
f9- Fine
g2g- Got to Go
lol I pwn you - I disagree. I believe my view to be superior.
rofl you n00b - I laugh at your pitiful attempts of looking col.
lmao - I am afraid that you are so funny that I had to receive amputation.
plz ph34r meh - I wish to be adored and admired in a fearful manner.
kthxbye - I'm afraid I can't stay to finish a complete sentence.
i saw tis b4, l8trz - I am afraid that 13 of my letter keys are broken but my mobile phone still works perfectly.
There are many, many more, these are just a few. look them up if you want.

Okay slang to use
pwn- Superior than
(z)omg- Oh My God/Gosh
lol- laugh out loud
rofl- Rolling on Floor Laughing
lmao- Laugh my arm off

Dealing with n00bs
DON'T MINI-MOD! Click the little button called "Report" if you see someone spamming, flaming, Double-Posting, etc. A staff member will try to deal with it as soon as possible. Don't get all mad at n00bs, because they find it fun when you get angry at them. Just tell them to kindly stop via Private Message or just report them to us.

More will be added as it comes to me. Hope this helps! =D

Dai Li: BY READING THIS THREAD, YOU NOW HAVE BEEN INVITED TO MOUNTMOON BY THE EARTH KING.
Members: Then we are glad to accept his invitation
Dai Li: Now, you are not a n00b, you will be a good member, anybody who tells you otherwise is lying
Members: I am not a n00b, I will be a good member.

El Fin.
(Sorry, had to include the brainwashing extra, I'm serious about that though, now you know what's n00bish and what's not!)

MMC Guide

Hey! I have decided to make a guide for those new members to MMC who don't really know their way around yet.
Or if you know most of the stuff here and would like to learn some more on a couple things.
Mods delete this if you don't like it or something of that sort.

1. Sending and Recieving PMs
This seems to be kind of hard for alot of new members.

To Send...
Go up to the top bar where it says the time and date and all that stuff.
On the second line towards the middle there should be something that says Private Messages. Click on that and it will take you to a page that has all of your PMs on it.
Now above all of your messages there should be another bar. One of the links on that bar should be compose message. Click on that. After you click on that you will be taken to a page that looks like a page to send an email.
Where it says username, type the username of the person you wish to send it to.
Next in the subject line type the subject of the message (this part is optional however until you disable it you will get an alert asking you if you want to send the message with no subject).
Now in the bottom part there is a big box. This is where you type your message. Type your message as long as you would like there then click send. You may also click preview if you want to preview what the message will look like when the person you want to recieve it, recieves it.

Recieving Them...
Go to the top bar of the page and click private messages. You will be take to a page where all of your private messages are held. You may scroll through them and go through pages. You may also view messages you have saved as drafts and messages you have sent. If you are not on a team you may only hold up to 100 messages in your inbox. If you are on a team, part of the staff, or are a VIP user you may have unlimited in your inbox, outbox, and savewd drafts.

Settings...
You may create new folders to move your messages to sort them. This is a big help in keeping your PMs organized and easy to find for reference. You can do this by clicking Edit Folders on the left nav bar on the Private Messages page. You may also see the date people have read your PM or if they have even read it at all by clicking tracking. When people send you a PM you may disable this feature by clicking deny receipt. You may also export messages to view them outside of the forum, this is a big deal if you have lost internet.

2. Editing Text
There are certain ways to edit your text like the font, color, size, bold, underline, italic, links. And other cool things.
Here is a list of how to make these cool things.

Code:

3. Admins/Security/Mods/Supermods
Admins have the power to do anything they want on the forum. Security can do anything on the forum an admin can with the exception of acessing the Admin CP. Supermods are just security with a different name. Thus MMC's reason for not having any. Mods can edit posts, delete posts, edit/delete threads, and edit polls only in sections they are assigned though.
These people make up our forum, therefore they deserve lots of respect. Be nice to these people and try and make friends with them and your time on MMC will be much more enjoyable. Same goes with members. If you have any worry that you are doing something wrong just PM one of the staff members by clicking here and choosing one. Some of the Admins do things on the forum that does not involve members therefore they may not or may not be able to answer your questions.
Mods are not chosen by post count or rep, so do not try to obtain alot of either of these in an attempt to become a mod, admin, or any other type of staff member.

4. Personal Pad
This is just a place to store little notes to yourself. You may find the Personal Pad by clicking User CP and then selecting it from a list on the left navbar. You can store random little notes there or you can keep an MMC journal if you wish. Just don't forget to click Update Pad after you are done writing in it.

5. Buddy/Ignore List
You can add buddies onto your buddy list and see if they are online or not, you can also use this as a quick pick for entering their name into a PM. Ignore lists are for those members that just don't like you or are being rude to you. This will you not to be able to get PMs from them. However on both of these you can add or take off people at anytime.
Acess this by going to the User CP and clicking on Buddy/Ignore List.
Just type in members names and click update list. It is as easy as that. This is just a nice way to keep track of your buddies.

6. MMC Awards
The MMC Awards is a fun way to vote for your favorite members according to categories and see which member wins in each one. The MMC awards happen twice a year. Once in May the other in November. Each winner gets a userbar and some winners may gain access to the 'VIP Forum'. It has been hosted by ~JB~ or Togepi each year.

7. UserName Changes
Getting your Username changed is easy, but you may only change it once per month and you cannot change it back if you do not like it (it really depends on who changes your name and how nice they are about that kind of stuff.) You can change it by clicking here and requesting one.
An admin or security member should get to it within 24 hours.
You can also review who has changed their name and what they changed it to.

8. Daily Spam
Just because the title has spam in it doesn't mean spam all you want. The point of this thread is to talk about different thing with no topic. You basically just discuss what people are talking about in there at the time. This is a fun thread and has been re-created twice.

9. How Not to go from Newb to N00b
-Use correct capitalization:
Which basically means dOnt tYPe lIkE ThiS

-Don't double post:
Only post once at a time if you have something more to say, wait for another member to post or simply edit your post.

-Use good spelling:
Dont tipe lyke dis

-Use good grammer:
u aint gonna typpe lyk3 th15

-Don't spam:
Post only what the topic of the thread is and make it relevant, don't just post to make your post count go up by one. Remeber quality over quantity (I stole that from ~JB~)
When they are looking for new mods they don't look at post count, they look at have you spammed alot and are you a good member.

-Use good puncuation:
don't>dont
Thank you.>Thank you
Yes, I think I will.>Yes I think I will

10. Mini Modding
I'm pretty sure this annoys members along as staff. This will NOT get you a mod position it just makes people angry. Mods have their job and they can take care of things. If you see something bad don't try and fix it your self. Just click the report button at the bottom of the post (this makes it so much easier for mods/admins to correct problems).

11. Following Rules
1. Don't Spam: Like it explains above, spamming is posts that have no relevance to the topic. A way to explain spam is:
S-tupid
P-ointless
A-nnoying
M-essages
Just don't do it. Posts under 7 words are considered spam, though you aren't going to get banned for having a post with 5 or 6 words in it. Just try and stay away from the 1-4 range.

2. Respect all Members: Again like above, give respect to all staff and members. It will make your time on MMC so much nicer.

3. Keep Posts to a PG-13 Limit: I haven't mentioned this one but just don't swear or talk about anything sexual.

4. Look over the Thread Before Replying: Just so you don't look stupid when you post something not relevant to the thread and so you don't spam.

You get three warnings, loose all of them and you get temp banned for a week. Extremely bad images/extremely bad spamming results in perm ban. [Excerpted from the Rule Thread]

12. Joining Teams
Although it seems like the teams have been shut down as of right now, you can still join one for the colored username and expanded PM Inbox space. You can join by clicking User CP then going to Group Memberships and clicking Join next to the group you want.

13. Editing Your Profile
Go into User CP and click Edit Profile. Here you can find the following things to edit.

-Birthday (Day, Month, Year)
-Your Website URL (URL of your Website)
-Sex (Male,Female,Undisclosed,Other)
-Favorite Pokemon (Favorite Pokemon)
-Pokemon Friend Code (Your D/P FC)

-AIM Screename (Your AIM SN)
-MSN ID (Your MSN Adress)
-Yahoo ID (Your Yahoo SN)
-Away Status (I'm Away/Here, Away Reason, Return Date [Day/Month/Year)

13. Edit Options
You can acess this by going to User CP than clicking Edit Options in the navbar. Below is a list of everything you can edit:

-Hide Yourself from the Who's Online List
-Remeber Login Details
-Recieve Emails From Admins
-Hide Your Email from Other Members
-Automatically Subscribe to Threads you Post in
-Recieve PMs from other members
-Popup when New PM is Recieved
-Email when New PM is Recieved
-Date Format
-Time Format
-Time Zone

-Default Thread View
-Display Users Sigs
-Display Users Avvys
-Quick Reply Box On/Off
-Posts Per Page
-Thread View Mode
-Friendly Redirect Pages
-MyCode Formatting
-Board Style
-Board Language

14. Change Forum Layout
You may do this two ways. The first way is to go to the bottom right corner of any page and use the quick theme change to select your theme. The other way is to go into User CP then to Edit Options, the last thing there is a theme selector.

15. Be Hidden From Who's Online List
Go into User CP, now to Edit Options, now check the box next to "Hide me from the who's online list". You will not appear on the who's online list. However, it will say one more person is appearing invisible online.

16. Giving Someone Rep
First go to one of their posts, now click the number of their rep. You will be taken to their rep page. You can also look through all of their reps here. Now click add rep close the the top right corner. A popup box will come. Select Negative(-1)/Neutral(0)/Positive(+1) then enter a comment in the box below. If it is too short it will ask you to enter a better reason.

17. MMC Talent Show (Added by saul, don't shoot me).
The MMC Talent Show is a fun event that has been held only once to date (December 2007). The purpose of this is to simply have fun and show off your talents to other members of the forums. During the late summer season, members will be asked to submit their talents which includes art work to musical numbers all the way to writing pieces (including small samples of fan fiction). During the latter days of December (somewhere around Christmas or New Years), a live show will be aired via the internet to the public where these talents are showcased in a video (the last one was 20mins long). At the same time, usually a "party" will be going on in the chat room for members to hang out and chat with each other as the show is going on. So far, only one Talent Show has been done, however, by popular vote and large participation, we are determined to continue it for the coming years. It is hosted annually by saul who organizes the event and carries it out.

Codes

If you want to know how to get Bold writing, different colours, pictures or anything. Look no further:
Code:
[color=red/green/blue/orange/yellow/beige/brown/limegreen/white]Text here[/color]
[color=#FF0000]Red Text in this case, otherwise use appropriate colours[/color]
[font=selectfont]Text here with sleected font[/font]
[b]Bold writing[/b]
[u]Underlined writing[/u]
[i]Italic writing[/i]
[quote=the person you're quoting from]Quoting somebody else[/quote]
[s]Strikethrough, i.e. a line through this part[/s]

[size=x-small/large, xx-small/large/other sizes]Different sizes[/size]
[size=12/14/etc]Better size use![/size]
[align=left/right/center]Alligned text[/align]
[list]
[*] Insert
[*] Numerous
[*] Bullet
[*] Points
[/list]
Those are the most basic codes you'll need. I'll add more as I learn them or remember them. Also, the way I wrote all that without it actually applying the codes is by doing the following:
{code}insert the coded text that you don't want to have the code applied to{/code}
But as with all the other codes, you replace those brackets { } with these proper ones [ ]
I hope this helps everyone!

There are even more codes if you click here!

You can also blend them all too, having pictures that link you to other webpages etc. If anyone knows any more please tell me, today on 28/04/07 I found out the list one courtesy of Hunk. Jr. so thanks to him! Also I learnt strikethrough from chester ages ago but forgot to put it on there when I created this. So thanks you 2 for teaching me those 2. Thanks to JB for giving me the url to the Help Documents page on codes!

Welcome Pass Help/Rules

If you're reading this, you're probably new. I'd like to welcome you to Mt. Moon Community, or MMC for short. Below are some questions and answers which we hope will help you.

_______________________________
Q: I just registered, now where do I start?

A: Right here! Smile
_______________________________

Q:
What is the welcome pass and how do I receive one?

A: Here at Mt. Moon Community, there is no such thing as a welcome pass. Welcome Pass is simply a name for this forum here. Please don't post a thread asking for a welcome pass.
_______________________________

Q: Okay, but what do I do in this section?

A:
If you are new, you may post a thread in this section to let us know that you joined. We will be happy to see you here and greet you.
_______________________________

Q: GRRR. Where do I get these..."banners"? I think that's what they're called. And what about those avatar thingies?

A: Well, you can make them yourself in any graphics program. Or you could visit Smeargle's Square and ask for one is a request thread. An avatar and banner that go togther are simply called themes.
_______________________________

Q: Okay I have my avatar/banner. Now how do I put it on my posts?

A: Great question! Click on User CP on the top of your page. If you want to put up an avatar, go to 'Change Avatar' on the menu. If you want to put up a banner, click 'Change Signature' on the menu. You should then type this code:

[img*]Put your image URL here[/img*]

Just take out the stars. If you would like your banner centered, use this code:

[align=center*][img*]Put your image URL here[/img*][/align*]

Again, take out the stars.
_______________________________

Q: What the heck are these things, dude?

^_^ =D =) Suprise ;D

A: They're text smilies. They're used to add some emotion to your posts. To get a better understanding, please visit this thread
_______________________________

Q: Ewww. Gross. The style of the forum is uggggllly. Can I change it?

A: Why, of course you can! Scroll down to the bottom of your screen. See the thing that says 'Quick Theme' ? Click the arrow. Click on one of themes that you think you will like (you can always change it again later). Now click 'Change Theme'. I hope you like your new theme! You can also do this in your User CP.
_______________________________

I hope I was helpful to you! =)

Also please do not spam. If you were a new member and some person starts spamming, would you really feel welcome and want to stay here? Didn't think so. Just please show some repect. ^_^

Due to recent issues and oncomming bans of fellow members, it's time to enforce some rules. For the first few months these rules will be pretty tight, so we can make this forum a much better and more mature place to visit. Listen to them and keep yourself out of trouble. =]
