You can share your work files (xcf for GIMP, psd for Photoshop) with saved layers and all that jazz with other members, by uploading the file somewhere for them to download. there are several ways to do this:

1. Email.
You can always just attach the file to an email and send it to a friend. However, it may be a case where you don't know each other's emails and might be a hassle.

2. Upload to a File Sharing Site
You can upload your file to a file sharing site such as rapishare or megaupload (known for viruses however).
I have set up my own little file sharing uploader, here: Infinity Space, so you can upload to that if you wish to be on the safe side (Make sure the file is 2 mb or less; If the xcf is too big or you have multiple ones, just put them together into a .zip file using Winzip). After uploading, you can tell your friend(s) to go to the uploading site and download the file you uploaded. This is the easiest way IMO.

3. MSN File Sharer
I don't really like this, since some people don't have MSN Messenger, but with this you can send files to your contacts.
