Today marks the one-year anniversary since the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and the 'end of an era' as fans as well as Arthur Levine and Jim Dale have called it.

Last summer was dubbed the "Harry Potter Summer" and "A Summer to Remember" by the HP Fandom, Dylan Sparks (a fan and graphics designer for Mugglenet.com) coining the terms.

And gosh, it seriously was!

The book sold over 11 millions copies in its first 24-hours, breaking records that previous Harry Potter books had set and becoming the world's fastest selling novel as well as the most anticipated novel in history.

So, what were you doing on that day? I know that after the midnight party, I bought my book and read and read. It was seriously one of the best days of my life - having all of those questions answered was GREAT but knowing that it would end here was extremely saddening.

I think Oliver Boyd and the Rememberalls coined it perfectly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQA2h-v-UrM
It sucks; I'm about to die waiting for Breaking Dawn and Brisingr this fall. =/

I bought it barely after it came out at Wally World, and then read it in a day lol.
Me; Before the midnight party, I went to the movies and went to the local meijers that night. They were handing out the scratch and win card where you could win free, or half priced harry potter merchandise, and I got my DH for free. I was so happy, that i continued into the night and was done with it by 4:00 pm. Then I had my closure for a few days and reread it again. :~]

YOU read Twilight too? Cool!!!!! (plug, twilightsource.com)
YOU read Inheritance too? Cool!!!!! (plug, brisingr.net)

Haha, yeah I know.

Twilight and Inheritance are a couple of my favorite books as well, but Harry Potter has done so much more for the world and it just can't be replaced. Smile
Wow, a year already. Feels like just yesterday. xD

I didn't really want to read it at first because I didn't want it to end ^^; I got the book on my birthday in October, but I borrowed it from a friend before that and read it over two nights after school because everyone was talking about it and I'd rather have read it myself than have it spoiled.

Harry Potter was my only entertainment for about a year. xD

I read the Twilight Saga in a week three days lol. I read all day and all night. I skipped eating to read... hehe, that wasn't the best idea...

But if Rowling writes any more books, they're MINE. =D
Its the best book ive ever read. I hope to one day write a book that is atleast half as good as any of the Harry potter books.
It seriously was good though! GAH! I miss waiting in line to get the book.

Even with Breaking Dawn and Brisingr's Release Parties, it's just not something you can replace. I don't think these new release parties will even amount to the Harry Potter ones. =/
*hops around the forums and finds... this topic...*

Most unfortunately, I think I've mostly grown out of the HP phase I was once in; I have the last book, but it has never been completed.

Quite a shame too, because I'm a very avid reader and fan of books in general. Still, it was a fantastic series while it lasted for me.

What did I do when it came out? Listened to my friends who had snagged the book at midnight as they claimed to have read it all in a few hours or so. I never get my books right when they come out anyway; just not my thing, I guess.
The book was really fantastic , i enjoyed it a lot.
