I'm bored so i figured this would be fun to think of some of the good cover songs i like..
Here's my short list, i know i'll remember tons after i post this...
Coheed and Cambria - Sister Christian (Nightranger)
Fake ID - All or Nothing (O-Town) - not the best song ever but i always need to give some love to Fake id
The Receiving End of Sirens - Superman (Stereophonics)
Nirvana - Where did you sleep last night? (Lead Belly)
New Found Glory - Goonies R Good Enough (Cindy Lauper)
Incubus - No Scrubs (TLC)
Apocalyptica - One (Metallica) - Not a Traditional cover i'd say, still completely rocks.
Metallica - Turn The Page (Bob Segar)
Anberlin - Love Song (The Cure)
Goldfinger - 99 Red Balloons (Nena)
Smashing Pumpkins - Landslide (Fleetwood Mac)
Johnny Cash - I won't back down (Tom Petty) - Im not a big cash fan but he did a great cover of an amazing petty song.
Johnny Cash - Hurt (Nine Inch Nails) - Of course you have to add this one, he took a great song and made it amazing. Even though it sounds more depressing.
Tom Petty - I'll Feel a Whole lot Better (The Byrds)
30 Seconds to Mars - Hunter (Bjork)
Killswitch Engage - Holy Diver (Dio) Not to mention the video rules...
A Perfect Circle -Imagine (John Lennon) - Not as good as the original but i would think its impossible to match the original.
John Lennon - Peggy Sue (Buddy Holly)
Richard Cheese - Come out and Play (The Offspring)
The Postal Service - Against All Odds (Phil Collins)
Death Cab for Cutie - This Charming Man (The Smiths)
Razorlight - Hey Ya! (Outcast)
Ben Folds Five - She Dont use Jelly (The Flaming Lips)
Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal (Micheal Jackson)
Orgy - Blue Monday (New Order) - One of my favorite songs when i was younger
Marilyn Manson - Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) (Eurythmics) - it's a manson video so... its probably shouldnt be watched by kids or something. I just think he did a great cover.
Rufio - Like A Prayer (Madonna)
Social Distortion - Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash) - Mike Ness might just rock the world
Acceptance - Happy Xmas (War is Over) (John Lennon)
And probably one of my all time favorites....
Thursday - Ny Batteri (Sigur Ros) I find it amazing that Thursday and Geoff specifically managed to the song absolutely beautiful while adding a rawer rock sound to it.
I know most of them are of the...pop punk/whatever flavor but hey, that's all i listened to in high school and now i really only listen to electronic music which lacks cover songs.
