Pokémon games have featured many evil (or not so evil) teams that the protagonist must stand up to during their journey — today we're wondering if you have a favorite among them! And no, we won't assume you share their ideals just because you like them 😉

Personally, for aesthetic reasons, I like Team Magma and Team Plasma the most. The outfits for both teams (and both versions of Plasma) are just fun and I used to want to get a cosplay outfit together to be a Team Magma grunt. I also won a Nintendo Power (remember that magazine??) for a Team Magma t-shirt back when Gen III was out.

YUP.

That is a MASSIVE AMOUNT. and STILL supply cannot keep up with the massive demand. The last card shortage only lasted a year and now we're going on 2 with no signs of slowing down.

I remember pokemon company international putting out similar figured in 2022. (This could be off some) i believe at the time, 25% of all pokemon cards ever were printed between 2020 - 2022.

So what does all this mean?

A big L for investor bros long term who just got into the hobby.

Their scarlet & violet era cards just wont hold up as well in the grand scheme of things compared to sun & moon and earlier because theres just waaaaaaaaaaaaay more of it. (and I am talking when were looking back 10 years from now there is gonna be way more SV era cards than anything else)

Hope the bubble burst soon lol

Card production will continue to ramp up as they're building new factories for card production.

I'd choose celedon!!! Mostly because it looks like such a beautiful city + that is where Erika's gym is. Maybe she will hire me as a gym trainer. Not to mention the game corner!!

Pokémon used to be a strictly handheld and console affair, but in its three decades mobile games have become a bigger part of the franchise. In part to celebrate Pokémon GO's 10 year anniversary, we're asking fans this week which iOS and Android titles they have enjoyed playing — regardless of whether the game is still available to download!

Personally, I log into the current active games regularly: GO, Masters EX, Cafe and Sleep. On a slightly less regular basis I'll also jump into UNITE and TCG Pocket. I also have fond memories of the adorable Magikarp Jump that I wish they expanded and kept providing updates for.

I kind of wish they'd bring Pokémon Duel back (you can see the Eevee and Treecko figures in the image above) but maybe in a different form. I didn't find the gameplay overly engaging, but I did like the little 3D figure designs.

Curious to hear your thoughts!

This week I'm interested to hear people's thoughts on the difficulty level of Pokémon games! Opinions on both current and historical difficulty levels are welcome.

Overall, I'd personally like to see the main series get a difficulty selection at the start of the game or accessible from anywhere. Usually it feels like any challenging content is locked to specific post-game areas, if it exists, or you have to turn to online competitions.

That being said, obviously the series has wide appeal and needs to be accessible to young fans.

Pokémon has tried a convoluted key system in Black 2 and White 2 which allowed for Easy and Challenge modes, but it was too much of a pain to use for new games for most players.

Sound off below! Do you like things as they are or would you prefer more of a challenge or grind?

The Pokémon encountered early on in the main series are some of the most iconic because they're encountered so often. And even though they may be an initial member of your team, they are often replaced because they lack the strength of Pokémon later on.

As expected of me, Sewaddle and its evolutions can be found in most of my teams in games that it is available. I also really enjoyed some of the designs introduced in Gen X, including Nymble, Tarountula and Lechonk!

But I also love almost all early route Bug-type Pokémon :)

This week we're not asking your favorite console, nor the console with the best Pokémon games, but instead which one you enjoy playing Pokémon games on the most. This may be because of form factor, features, portability or nostalgia — let us know what you like playing games on and why!

Personally, I think the 3DS is probably my favorite (specifically 3DS XL), because of the size and portability hitting a great sweet spot. I prefer the slide pad to the buttons of the DS.

Second might be the Game Boy Advance SP! Classic form factor that was the perfect size for long Pokémon gaming sessions.

Conversely, the Switch and Switch 2 feel too delicate in handheld mode and, combined with their cost, don't feel as fun to carry around because there's an element of worry about their safety.

Pokémon Pokopia was an amazing way to showcase Ditto and made the classic Pokémon even more endearing than it already was. But that also made me wonder what other Pokémon players would like to see featured as the primary Pokémon or protagonist.

Chatot or Meloetta leading a rhythm game? A platformer featuring Lucario? Pecharunt controlling the world? A Let's Go, Togepi title?

Shamelessly, I would like to see Let's Go, Togepi! as long as the catching mechanic is better than LGPE.

I also think Sewaddle could make for a fun 2D platformer protagonist with movement primarily done through String Shot.

I work from home, so I am always being annoyed by my cats (love them tho) and it got my thinking about pokemon and coworkers. Which pokemon would be the most annoying coworker?

Psyduck came to mind for me. I gave PJ an image I had in my head haha I hope he includes it in the featured image (PJ note: sorry!!). I think Magmorter would be a lot to put up with too because he'd burn everything down!

Psychic types would be pretty chill tbh. Could tell me about work stuff before I even know about it.

Some Pokémon get new evolutions — or region-specific evolutions — in later Generations. Scarlet and Violet were the latest games to introduce new evolutions for older Pokémon and included Annihliape, Kingambit, Farigiraf and Dudunsparce. Generation IV also added quite a few new evolutions.

Do you have any favorites that added on to the theme of the original Pokémon or took it in a cool new direction?

Personally, I really enjoy Dudunsparce, Gliscor, Magmortar and... Leafeon!

Here are some of mine:

• Paras & Parasect: Great combination of Grass and Bug-type and I'm partial to the mushroom theme

• Kingler: I've always just thought it is a really fun crab design and has always been one of my favorite Water types

• Dunsparce: I don't know why I love these guys so much, they're just adorable to me

• Cherrim: Love the sakura design

• Sewaddle, Swadloon and Leavanny: One of my favorite lines out of all Pokémon

• Lurantis: Like the praying mantis-esque design and pink color

I have quite a few more, but I'll stop there 😅

You're allowed to add one new evolution to an existing pokemon. Who gets it and why?

Personally sunflora for me. Such a great design. . .but it needs more power! I think there's a lot of very pretty things they could do with a sunflora evolution as well. I can't really think of anything else. I have always wanted sunflora to get the love she rightfully deserves!! 😀

There are so many directions they could go for new sets. Giant, detailed collector builds like a FULL POKEMON GYM or Cute, cozy slice of life scenes? Or tiny chibi builds you can line up on a shelf?

I personally need an adorable Sewaddle LEGO set to become real.

Have you all see the botanical sets? I'd love to see sets of sunflora, flabebe, and other flower pokemon too it would be super cute.

What Pokémon LEGO set would you actually buy on day one? I think the ones they have revealed so far are a bit safe & boring.

With the Nintendo Switch re-releases coming later this week, have you decided which you'll be playing (or at least playing first) between Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen? And is it because of the version exclusive Pokémon or do you have other reasons for your choice?

And... have you started planning what team of Pokémon you'll be using?

I bought LeafGreen originally and I'll be playing LeafGreen again on the Switch! As for my team, I'm kind of leaning towards trying a Grass and Bug-type only run for Twitch 👀

He's blue. . .he's green. . .he's back to blue. . oh wait he's green again. In Go he's VERY green and could be mistaken for being shiny. I am really annoyed because he looks soooo much better with the bluer tone.

There are many characters all across the franchise, from the games to anime and other media, from player characters to battle facility bosses, but the question is — who's your favourite?

For me, my main focus lies with the male player characters and rivals. They're all beloved to me in their own ways, but above all, my favourites are Nate and Hugh, who have been big comfort characters for me since 2013/14 and everything loops back to them, they're everything to me and I could gush forever and flail and cry. Close second being Victor and Hop, who kind of rewired my brain chemistry when I played Sword for the first time exactly 3 years ago 😹

As so often though, I have so many other characters I love a ton that I can't list them all here (and sometimes only remember in context 😹) but shoutout to N and Colress, who are. blorbos.

Which pokemon would make for the worst roommate?

For me it would be Snorlax. You room with him to save some money on rent, but then he eats all of the food in the fridge and then sleeps all day.

He sleeps SO much that he forgets to get a job and then you're stuck with the entire bill anyway, so you get evicted and have to join team rocket for additional money.

The Question of the Week is: What is your favourite Poké Ball?

I know that the Master Ball and Love Ball are among the most popular, but many others are also highly regarded, even if they are less well known. (Here's Bulbapedia's page on Poké Balls)

For example, I love the well-known Moon Ball, but one of my absolute favourites is the Park Ball! I love the yellow and blue combination 😊

Which one is your favourite? Did you choose it just for its appearance, or because it's linked to a specific Pokémon or event?

Here's a look at my team. As you can see I have the world's biggest fire type weakness. (photo below) There's so many cute pokemon in the city. I have also had a good time shiny hunting with all the various methods.

There are a number of Pokémon games outside the main canon, including Pokémon Rangers, Conquest, Detective Pikachu and many, many more. It really seemed like the Nintendo DS era was a heyday for side games and it's been awhile between them in recent years. Luckily we do have the recently announced Pokémon Pokopia to look forward to!

But today I'm curious about what people consider their favorite spin-off game from the series.

Personally, I really enjoyed the Pokémon Trading Card Game for the Game Boy. Day-to-day, I play Cafe ReMix and that's quite fun.

But I'd really love to see a new Conquest or Pinball title!! PLEASE!! 🙇🙏

There are quite a number of Pokémon that are based on certain gimmicks, including ones you have to hold the device upside-down to evolve them and one that can transform into any other Pokémon. Some are ability-based, some are evolution-based, some have certain requirements to get their Egg or their design could be considered a gimmick.

Today we're wondering what your favorite gimmick-based Pokémon is and why!

Personally, I'm a huge Kecleon fan! It has a fun design and its ability to disappear (at least in the anime) except for its belly stripe is cute.

The holidays are in the air; Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and the New Year may influence your current plans with family and friends, as well as festive decor in your house.

With many holiday items available at the Pokémon Center and other retailers, does Pokémon play any part of your celebrations? Any winter Pokémon GO sessions to celebrate time off from work and/or school with friends?

Personally, I have our Pokémon stockings out 😂 And I've had my Pikachu & Ekans ceramic figure out for the entire year in my living room since 2025 was a year of the Snake.
