Seeing that many people enjoy using their Pokémon Pikachu (or Pocket Pikachu if you have the Japanese version), I decided to create a guide to help you make the most of it!

First, let's cover the basics.

Steps

Pokémon Pikachu acts as a pedometer, counting your steps. For every 7 steps, you and Pikachu earn 1 Watt. These Watts can be used to play a mini-game or given to Pikachu to increase its happiness.

Clock

This displays the current time. It’s important to keep the clock accurate, as some animations depend on it. For example, Pikachu won’t want to walk once he’s gone to bed. You can also set an alarm using this feature.

Gift

Here you can see how many Watts you've collected. Use the up and down buttons on the control pad to choose how many Watts you'd like to give to Pikachu. His reaction will depend on how many you give him. Note that offering zero or just a few Watts will make him unhappy.

Mini-game

Select the coin icon from the menu to access the mini-game. Each spin costs 5 Watts, and you can only play if you have enough. Press A to start spinning and press A again to stop. Match three of the same symbol to win Watts. The best prize (500 Watts) is won by matching three "7" symbols.

Friendship

Pressing the SELECT button, this screen shows your current relationship with Pikachu, along with your total step count. The closer Pikachu feels to you, the closer it will appear on the screen. If you haven’t walked or played with Pikachu for a while, it may run away. You can shake the device to get him to come back.

Options

Pressing the START button, you can see the Options menu. From here, you can reset the counter in the top-right corner to 0 using the reset option (note that the counter cannot exceed 99,999). You can also toggle the device’s sound on or off and adjust the time settings.

I am a huge Pokemon plush fan! Over the years, I have looked upon Japanese Poke-plushes with great longing. It feels like the cutest ones were doomed to never make it into the US-based Pokemon Center... until recently. These aren't the first sets to make it to US shops, but they are the most recent! They also happen to be the ones I was most excited for!

Sparkly Friends

Offering a unique smooth feel that surely lives up to how these Water types would feel in real life (except maybe Corsola; I'm pretty sure they are rocks...)! I believe this will be an ongoing collection. I think a bunch of Pokemon could benefit from a sparkle treatment. My number one water type suggestion to the Pokemon company would be Primarina, but I'm probably biased. Jellicent and the Tatsugiri forms would also be great additions!

As soon as I saw Vaporeon on the Pokemon Center Japan website, I fell in love. It's perfect. They all are! I hope they'll be available for a while because I'm excited to get ahold of one to add to my slowly growing Vaporeon collection when I have the funds.

Lil' Friends

This is my absolute favorite plushie line in a long time. At only a few inches tall, these cute, stylized plush key chains are sure to capture your heart (they did mine)! With a variety of Pokemon available to choose from, everyone is sure to find an option that suits them.

Sentret is my favorite from here, though Togepi is a very close second. Slowpoke looks incredibly goofy and may accidentally end up in my cart. My mother, a Snorlax enjoyer, has already requested the Snorlax one!

I really like that Tandemaus comes as a pair, and the price isn't upcharged too much to accommodate them using the buddy system.

Oh, and Ditto looks like melted ube ice cream.

I've chosen Eevee because I'm not really convinced about Pikachu's face and the original trio is kinda boring. I hope they release more interesting Pokémon but it's a start. I really hope they release an Arcanine one, the bigger the better.

I've finally received the Pocket Pikachu I ordered online! ☺️

I must admit I nearly forgot it existed until @JohtoTimes posted some photos of it on our Discord.

It looks really cute and, most importantly, it functions!

It's all in Japanese, so I'll need to watch some tutorials on how to use it properly 😆
