We’re excited to officially announce our very first PJ x MMC Pokémon Champions Tournament!

This tournament is all about friendly competition, meeting fellow Trainers in the MMC community, and seeing who comes out on top ⚔️✨

Please read the rules and information below before signing up.

How to Join

Joining the tournament is completely free. Just use the 'Confirm Attendance' button on the event page here.

Tournament Format

This tournament will use a Single Elimination format (BO1).

That means:

• Lose once and you’re eliminated

• Win and advance to the next round

All battles will be played privately between players. We currently do not plan to stream matches.

Prize

The winner will receive a shiny Panour, Pansage, & Pansear in your Legends ZA game. They're legit and freshly caught. :)

Battle Rules

Matches will be played using the standard Pokémon Champions competitive settings.

Rules include:

• 3-on-3 Singles battles

• Trainers may bring a team of 6 Pokémon, but choose 3 before the battle begins

• Pokémon levels will automatically be set to Level 50

• Duplicate Pokémon species are not allowed

• Duplicate held items are not allowed

• Any banned or restricted Pokémon according to current Pokémon Champions competitive rules may not be used

Pairings & Deadlines

Sign-ups will remain open until July 22nd at 11:59 PM.

Once registration closes, tournament pairings will be posted in this thread and participants will be tagged so everyone receives a notification.

Players will have 3 days to complete each match after pairings are announced.

If an opponent does not respond within the deadline, they may be disqualified unless moderators have been informed beforehand. If you message someone for a match please wait a full day before messaging them again: remember, people work.

Reporting Match Results

After completing your match, reply in this thread with the winner’s result and tag your opponent so they can confirm it.

If there is a disagreement or no confirmation, moderators may ask for screenshots or battle recordings to verify the outcome.

It's hard to believe that one year ago we were re-opening our forums that had been closed for almost 10 years and had roots stretching back to 2006. I'll be honest — I didn't know if anyone would be willing to join us. We're in a new era that doesn't often use traditional, independent forums and asking people to register for another site and participate outside of social media does not always sound appealing.

But it's with deep gratitude to our members that I mark the forum's first anniversary back. Thank you for all the discussions and your presence. Together, in just the first year, we've been able to:

• Reach 130 members

• Amass almost 2000 posts across 450 topics

• Hold multiple events, including Pokémon TCG Pocket Tournaments and a Shiny Hunt

• Share thoughts over many Questions of the Week

Very special thanks to @Zachery , @Teo and @moving for their involvement setting up tournaments and helping with backend work.

Over the years, I had really wanted to bring back Mt. Moon but I had let the domain lapse and it got taken by domain squatters. I would still periodically check if it had been released though, and, to my great happiness, I could reclaim mountmoon.net. Yes, I know I could have found a similar domain, but this feels like reclaiming a piece of the forum's 10-year history.

Is this 2005? Why do we need a Pokémon forum?

It seemed like social media was really the evolution of the forum — you could make friends across the platforms and weren't confined to primarily interest-based websites, didn't have to register for a gazillion forums, could easily share short-form content and images and they were ultimately just very convenient.

But I think it is getting clearer and clearer that platforms controlled by some of the world's wealthiest people are ultimately not making the internet a better place. Whether that's through the spread of misinformation, the pushing of controversial content to generate engagement or arbitrary enforcement of rules on their users, no social media platform has really come out looking good. Today, some seem extremely detrimental.

That's why I believe that forums are a good option for people to use to discuss Pokémon or anything else.

Mt. Moon Community is still evolving

Just like a Clefairy, Mt. Moon still has room to grow and evolve. Please have fun, be respectful and let us know any feedback you have so we can continue to improve!

The final round of our Pokémon TCG Pocket tournament was a fierce showdown in which each of the five finalists had to face each other. In the end, @nerradlife emerged as the ultimate winner!

I want to sincerely thank all of the participants — I wasn't sure how many people would join our inaugural tournament, or if we'd even be able to hold one, but we had a great showing. I believe all matches were able to be completed too. So thank you to everyone who took part! Really appreciate the great sportsmanship we saw.

I also want to say a huge thank you to @Teo and @Zachery for helping organize the tournament. This definitely could not have happened without their help!

Potential changes based on the first tournament

I think there are some changes we might make for future tournaments:

• Have participants vote on a single win-or-lose match or best-of-three match style for battles

• Try to organize some streaming of matches if that's something people would be interested in

• Make rules clearer based on questions that came in during the tournament

• Encourage people to set avatars so that we can use them in any graphics (a lot of Sewaddles this time!)

And we're also very open to feedback so that we can make things as fun as possible.

Here’s how it will work:

To join the tournament, reply to this thread confirming your participation. Please include your TCGP friend code.

Match Pairings

Subscriptions for the tournament will remain open until August 5. On that day, we will publish the pairings in a dedicated thread and tag you so that you receive a notification.

Match Format

The tournament follows a single-elimination format, so losing a match means being out of the tournament, and winning means progressing to the next round. Also, matches are private, so we're not planning to stream any battles.

Match Deadline

You’ll have 3 days to complete your match from the moment pairings are announced. If your opponent doesn't reply within the deadline, they’ll be marked as defeated by default (unless they have a valid reason).

Playable decks

All cards currently available in the game are permitted. Players may change their decks between rounds of the tournament.

Reporting Results

After your match, comment in the matches thread to report the winner. Please tag your opponent to confirm the result. In the event of disagreement or no confirmation, we may request screenshots to verify the information.
