So, I have a bit of sad news, my Pocket Pikachu developed a crack in the hinge a few months ago, which has now developed into a full break. As a temporary solution, I have duct taped the broken hinge in the hope I can carry it through the last 100,000 steps of my challenge. But when I woke up this morning I noticed that the second hinge had a hairline crack in it, and I simply cannot risk taking it out attached to my belt anymore, it's too risky. My next step is to attach it to some card to keep it upright, and keep it inside my pocket for the rest of the challenge. Someone on Bluesky suggested this, and it feels like the safest option. If it does break, I at least have the assurance that it won't be lost outside somewhere. I am heading out shortly, so I can see how effective this works. The device is more than 25 years old now. It likely wasn't built to last this long. My hope is that this Pocket Pikachu will see one million steps, and then perhaps I can buy another junk device and swap out the back so it may live on for another adventure somewhere down the line. I know a few users here have a Pocket Pikachu, so I would ask you to check the hinge from underneath. If you see any black lines, consider that your warning!

We all have a shared interest in Pokémon, and while we may have discovered it at different points throughout its history, I am sure we all have some cherished memories and stories we can share. One that I love to share is when I first got hold of Pokémon Crystal, and why it means so much to me: Here is an except of what I wrote for Johto Times The memory of being sat on the kitchen floor of my brother's house while I played Pokémon Crystal for the first time, seeing the vibrant colours and animations in the game's first moments on the title screen, Obtaining my Cyndaquil, and catching a Hoothoot at night, will always stay with me!

My first ever Pokémon cards were a collection of Base and Jungle cards that I stole from a boy at the beach. I will forever regret it 😭 My first holo card, to my knowledge, was this Nidoqueen card from the Jungle set, given to me by a my friend who lived in the same street as me. I still have it to this day, safe and sound in my folder

I used this website myself as a guide for learning more about the Pocket Pikachu. I hope we can use this as the foundation to get an accurate idea of what the Pocket Pikachu can do. Also I have no idea how the original creator got those pixel images of Pikachu, I was never able to find a source. I considered filming each animation and trying to recreate them by pixels. I think it would be a huge job but I might attempt it someday if I can get some proper software to do it!

I didn't fall for many of the rumours and Pokégods, but I did fall for the Mew under the truck because of the literal truck that was in the game's data. A pity, I would have loved it to be true!

Oh wow! I am super hyped for you @dragoniteo that's awesome! I wish you the best of luck on your journey to reaching a million steps! I have a good feeling it will work! The screen doesn't appear to have had any leakage, and it looks like you kept it in good shape. Is there a battery already inside? If you want to clean inside PLEASE be careful because there's a thin hairline wire that moves the mechanism inside, and it can spring out and be easily lost. The speaker is also attached to the front so you can't open it up completely without disconnecting the wire, and that'll require some soldering (which I don't have time for) I think it'll just be as simple as inserting a CR2032 battery, let me know if it works!

I picked up some of these back in February from a toy fair. They were cheap, and still sealed! I managed to get Machamp, Voltorb, Koffing, and Articuno.

It's a very tricky one to answer. If it was individual I would say Rowlet or Cyndaquil wins. In most cases I like two out of three starters. With this in mind, I think the original trio wins it for me

I am curious to hear what your favourite Pokémon soundtracks are. These can be video games, anime, movie, or other Pokémon media. I personally collect Pokémon mainline video game albums, as well as video game music in general. My favourite soundtrack is probably HeartGold & SoulSilver, but in terms of physical, it has to be the original Pokémon Red & Green soundtrack. I'm surprised I even have it, I feel very fortunate!

This is something I was planning for my own community when we finally get it up and running, and something I had already experimented with around 2022. I still have all my badges from back then which I plan to use in the new place. So how can I say its not a great idea?
