  1. Yeah it's probably not easy for a lot of people. I know some people voted too quickly and overlooked some of their favourites too. I think they need to carefully consider them!
  2. Thank you! Yes, I was unsure if I should even attempt it, because if the poll doesn't reach far, the results won't give an accurate view. Thankfully, voting is going beyond expectations at the moment, and if the pace of this keeps up, we are going to see some really clear results and insight into which Pokémon people love!
  3. Hello Pokémon fans! Darren here from Johto Times. I am making a post here to bring attention to the Johto Times Favourite Pokémon Poll 2025 edition. The goal is to reach as many Pokémon fans as possible, and determine which Pokémon is the fans’ favourite. Between May 17th and July 31st, 2025, Johto Times will run a poll for each Pokémon generation, from Kanto to Paldea, and invite Pokémon fans to cast their vote on their favourites! Participants can vote for their six favourite Pokémon in each poll. Each poll will run for ten weeks, between May 17th and July 31st, 2025. In August 2025 we will reveal the results of each poll, and the top ten Pokémon from each will move through to the grand final, which will take place later that month. Please spread the word and tell your friends! Update: 22nd May (Clarification): Pokémon which are tied jointly within the top ten will progress to the grand final. For example, if by the end of the poll, two Pokémon have the same number of votes in tenth position, both of these Pokémon will progress through to the grand final. Full details and updates will be available on this link moving forward, please bookmark it for future reference: https://johto.substack.com/p/johto-times-favourite-pokemon-poll-2025 I look forward to hearing your thoughts, and discussion around which Pokémon you will be voting for, or which Pokémon characters you think will win!
  4. I have been a huge fan of Nintendo for as long as I can remember, but I am very much on the fence about the Switch 2. I felt the same way about the original Nintendo Switch, but I was invited to go to the UK premiere in 2017, and went hands on with lots of games. Because of this, I became more convinced that it would be a console i'd love. I did sell a lot of old games and items I wasn't using to justify it though, and in the eight years since it launched, I have enjoyed the library of games i've built up. But the Switch 2, despite its impressive specs and titles, hasn't won me over. I was fortunate enough to secure one though the Nintendo store, but even now with just a few weeks until launch, i'm tempted to cancel my order. The console itself isn't exactly the issue, I think the £395 price tag (£429.99 with Mario Kart World) is about what I expected. My issue is the price of physical games, which I opt for in most circumstances, being significantly higher. Digital is also more expensive, but cheaper than physical, which makes me think that physical games will be abandoned entirely. I am not a fan of this future, and would rather step off the Nintendo train once and for all. Right now there's enough reasons for me to buy one, but I very much doubt it will get the same level of play as the Switch did, and nowhere near what the GameCube and Wii did for me back in the day
  5. It's quite well known that I love Rowlet, but the reasons why surprised me. There's the moment in Pokémon Sun where you choose your Pokémon, and as a bird lover I picked Rowlet. But there was something really special about seeing him choose ME to be HIS trainer! Picking him up and holding him just looked really adorable at the time and I fell in love immediately. I also adore his silly nature in the anime, despite only seeing clips. I don't evolve my Rowlet, so when I reached the Elite Four in Sun & Moon I beat them without evolving him. To this day, I still haven't evolved it beyond a Rowlet, and that's how it will stay.
  6. The only one that has my interest is Rowlet. Rowlet is awesome! I have about six Rowlet plush toys but I WILL get him!
  7. I second this, I would love to see the Orange Islands, but the Sevii islands retcon it so it very likely will never happen

I really love the Applin! Great job :)
  9. I think there's definitely a strong feeling that change needs to happen, but I don't think TPC really want it to change. Why would they? Why would any of the stores who all rake in huge amounts of profit as a result of this? Let's just hope the bubble bursts soon
  10. I can see we have someone here with taste! Rowlet will absolutely be mine!
  11. At the current time, i'm concerned about the pricing of Switch 2 games, however I am going to keep my pre-order a little longer, and make a decision on it prior to launch as to whether I keep it or not.
  12. I will vote with my wallet, it's all I can do! Hopefully I can complete my classic collections of cards at the very least!

Welcome to the community once again @saul and thank you for the support you gave the original community back in the day.
  14. Perhaps this could be displayed in people's profiles if they wish? Rather than one big thread where it would be a pain to keep updating constantly with new additions. It also allows people the flexibility of removing that information, should they choose not to include it anymore.
  15. @Corylus I've had the pleasure of sharing your watercolour artwork on Johto Times on several occasions, and I love that continue to make more of it. Please keep up the fantastic work!
  16. Currently playing through Pokémon Red & Blue on a stream every Saturday with my community on Twitch! The goal of the playthrough is to create a living-dex of all 151 Pokémon, on original hardware. I'm using my original GameCube console with a Game Boy player, my childhood copy of Pokémon Blue from 2001, and a copy of Red I purchased for this specific playthrough from a friend, from her childhood. Each Pokémon will be named after a friend, acquaintance, or someone involved in Pokémon who has had an impact on me and my love of Pokémon through the years. Once i'm done with it, I plan to retire the games. I will back up the data to my PC where I will always have a record of the playthrough.
  17. I try (with difficulty) to be professional and as neutral as possible when it comes to everything I write, but speaking personally I despise everything that is going on with this hobby. As a fellow collector, I have struggled to obtain older cards to complete my childhood collections, and even more so with Pokémon Scarlet & Violet 151. There are some incredibly selfish people out there who only care about the money, and how much of it they can make. No consideration is given to genuine collectors, players, and the target audience who are children. I also don't believe The Pokémon Company are going to do much about it, when all of this is benefitting them financially. Stores certainly won't, given how much money they're making, it's a guarenteed seller! I hope TPC do print all of these cards into the ground, but maybe they should create less sets, and publish them for longer periods? Having a new set every 2-3 months is a huge problem.
  18. Thanks for that @saul if you ever find your original items, i'd love to see some photographs of them! Additionally, I appreciate the kind words about the newsletter, it is much appreciated!
  19. I am very keen to see some of the cool Pokémon items and merchandise that users may have from the late 90s and early 2000s era of Pokémon. There's something very charming about this era, and while a lot of the focus these days appears to be on the current items for sale, it's great to look back to the very earliest days too! I have too many to list, but I have shared a lot of them in my newsletter (I hope it's ok to share these here!)
  20. My jumping off point with GO happened before this purchase went through. It has been on a downward trend for a while, but i'll always remember the good ol' days :)
  21. Any forum opening up in 2025 deserves so much praise! It's going to be a lot of work to keep it maintained and active, but hopefully people will rally around and make it a home! Best of luck with the relaunch of Mount Moon!
  22. Without a doubt, Feraligatr! I can't wait to see its Mega Evolution! If it's awful, I will be so upset 😭

Welcome to the forum @Palamon I hope you stick around and have a nice time here!
  24. As a player of Pokémon GO from day one, this has concerned me greatly. Not just the purchase, but everyting leading up to it. Despite it being a temporary measure during COVID-19, it was hard to forgive Niantic for reversing their stance on remote raid passes. A lot of people who couldn't normally play due to their health, whether that be a disability or mental health reasons, an opportunity to play remotely and be a part of the wider community. My PERSONAL opinion, is that they are happy with the data they collected from their users, and can earn more with that, than video games. https://nianticlabs.com/news/largegeospatialmodel As for the game itself? How would YOU want to get a return on your $3.5 billion investment? Personally I can see a lot more monetisation. I absolutely loved Pokémon GO, it was an opportunity to make new friends locally, it improved my mental health, and it rejuvinated my love for Pokémon However, I am prepared to pull my Pokémon from the game if I don't like what I see in the future.
  25. Thanks very much for the warm welcome, and your kind words about the newsletter. While it's a very kind offer, I would feel like I was exploiting your community to promote my words, and right now the focus is to help to grow this forum and its audience! In the future, if I share something relevant, then I may consider it :) Keep up the great work! Thanks for your kind words also, and the warm welcome! I don't think we can expect forums to replace social media, and we should try to make those platforms work for us to help grow our small forums. Show people that there is an alternative out there to the norm, and how it can be beneficial! Even then, a small, close-knit community is far better than a large and overwhelming one.
