  1. A loose recreation of Arita’s famous base set Charizard, with several Sugimori depictions as additional inspiration (most noteworthy the 1997 carddass). The elongated middle claws on it’s feet are directly taken from Pocket Monsters Red. As a little extra I also made a custom sprite within the same limitations as the Game Boy games. If it looks authentic or not is debatable, but I had a lot of fun creating it. A clash of the Dragons! Who would win? Image composition and backgrounds were never really my strenght, so that was some decent practice.
  2. That Mew was my fifth attempt and it still has some mistakes, but I won’t go for a sixth one. At least I can consider it as practice.
  3. Thank you! Those are on actual paper. If you want something custom made and shipped, let me know via DM. Thank you, but my line work is not as good as Sugimori's. I'll try to improve my skills.
  4. Good to see you like the sprite as well. However I did update it a bit to get closer to the Gen 1 style sprites, especially the eyes. Also I drew a Chikorita for collab. While it's not my finest work, I had to meet the deadline. If I'd constantly worry about quality, I couldn't get anything done.
  5. That's quite an undertaking, but I am excited who will win. I already voted some of my favourites.
  6. I had Vileplume and Dragonite, however I found the keychain a bit annoying. Why couldn't hey be just a regular toy? Looking back at it they were pretty cool though.
  7. It's good to see you like Slowpoke. Initially I was a bit worried about the inconsistent line art, but it seems like you don't mind. Also thank you for showcasing my work JohtoTimes, that was very kind of you. This time it's Cubone's turn. I also tried my hand at a R&G style sprite for it.
  8. Very tidy and organized. I especially like the pixel Mew. Does it come from a set?
  9. Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate them. This time I painted a Slowpoke for a collaboration. Given how Slowpoke tail is treated as a delicacy in the games, I thought it'd be funny to see one trying to taste it's own.
  10. That Charizard looks powerful. A 150 attack with no drawbacks + the acceleration makes a strong attacker. Probably too strong, I can defintely see where the criticism about power creep is coming from. We will have to wait and see how much those cards will affect the meta.
  11. Probably Chikorita, as I didn't use it much before. I'm curious to see if it gets a regional from or mega evolution.
  12. Hello, I draw and paint Sugimori inspired fanart with actual watercolours. It's challenging to work with, but I think the results are worth it.
  13. Hello everyone, I came from Bsky and am now entering Mt. Akagi Moon as well. I do agree that centralized social media platforms create an uncomfortable enviroment and am glad that forums get another chance. As for myself I played Pokémon since 2003, but got started with Pokémon Red. Used games were cheaper back then so I got that instead of the GBA games. Eventually though I got my hands at Leafgreen and Emerald and really got to see how much quality of life improvements were made through the generations. Suddenly everthing looked so clean and colourful and the music had so much more depth. I still adore the GB games though, they're classics for a reason. Of course I got to see Ken Sugimori's watercolour illustrations and since then he is a big inspiration to me. I'll try to upload some of my fanarts more or less frequently here in the forum. See you around.
