Walmart is using a LOTTERY system for Pokémon cards now 😳

Walmart just introduced a new way to try to stop scalping and it says so much about where we are at with the tcg.

Instead of waiting for a restock and trying to beat scalpers and bots to checkout, collectors can enter a free drawing for the chance to purchase certain products.

The first drawing was yesterday for a Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Box at $69.99. Will you be trying your luck???

You enter during the available window, add your payment information, and wait. If you're selected, Walmart charges you and ships the product. If you're not selected, you don't get charged, and you gotta sit there sad.

Considering Pokémon reportedly produced 10 BILLION cards between March 2025 and March 2026 and demand is still outpacing supply, I can see why retailers are experimenting with different systems.

Personally, I think a lottery beats refreshing a product page for 30 minutes just to watch everything sell out instantly. 😂

What do you think?

Would you rather have Walmart use a lottery system like this, or stick with traditional first-come, first-served restocks?

I have attached a source
