Question of the Week: What is your favorite console to play Pokémon games on?

This week we're not asking your favorite console, nor the console with the best Pokémon games, but instead which one you enjoy playing Pokémon games on the most. This may be because of form factor, features, portability or nostalgia — let us know what you like playing games on and why!

Personally, I think the 3DS is probably my favorite (specifically 3DS XL), because of the size and portability hitting a great sweet spot. I prefer the slide pad to the buttons of the DS.

Second might be the Game Boy Advance SP! Classic form factor that was the perfect size for long Pokémon gaming sessions.

Conversely, the Switch and Switch 2 feel too delicate in handheld mode and, combined with their cost, don't feel as fun to carry around because there's an element of worry about their safety.

I loved the 3DS in its own right because of the features, portability, and minigames. I have very fond memories of street passing the same people over and over in college and though I never met them, it felt like a kinship of sort.

I also truly enjoyed playing Pokemon games on that system too. Even now, picking up my 3DS takes me back up college and finding people who loved Pokemon as much as I did!

I definitely agree on the 3ds! it was one of the best ever imo, playing on the 3ds is a good time and I miss streetpass :') some of my most favourite/formative games are for 3ds, and I'm gonna include dream radar being an extra feature for b2w2 here lol, so that's a bonus win for me along with what's already been mentioned with the form factor/portability and general fun.

I love playing on the switch/switch 2 but honestly I would love it a lot more if I actually could play handheld mode as much as I would like but the console is heavy and bulky for my hands (more so with the switch 2 the few times I could try so far) and I have persistent neck/general back issues too :') so table mode is usually my compromise at this time but that still gets rough on my neck (admittedly though part of the whole dilemma probably lies in my living situation)

the gba sp and ds lite also were sooo fun to play on, also shoutout to them being like unbreakable and while I had to replace my 3ds' battery about 4 years ago, the ds lite has no issues whatsoever lmao rip.
