3 pointshi, everyone! i wasnt on the old MMC, but i thought it seemed pretty interesting when i got the ping in the discord, so i wanted to check it out. my name is ash (i will also answer to umbreon) and ive been a pokémon fan siiiiiince the 6-8 age range, i wanna say? im 20 now, so its been awhile! my favorite pokémon, as you can probably tell, is umbreon! shiny umbreon, to be specific. i dont really remember why that is, ive just been attached to it for years! my second favorite pokémon is pikachu, mostly because ive always been a HUGE fan of the pokémon anime! ash and pikachu were my favorite characters growing up, and they still mean a lot to me now. my favorite type is electric, with dark and fairy coming in at second and third. i honestly love every type and all of the pokémon within them... ive always loved the idea of every pokémon being someones favorite! the first pokémon game i played was soul silver on my older brothers blue DSI, i would always take it from him to play it even though i had no idea what was going on. the starter he chose was cyndaquil, so its one of my favorite starters now along with oshawott! my first game that was actually mine was pokémon platinum. gen 4 is super nostalgic to me thanks to those games being my introduction to the franchise! my favorite games now are explorers of sky and moon! the characters and story in both of those games really mean a lot to me. for gameplay alone, i had the most fun with legends arceus. i expect to have a lot of fun with legends Z-A, too! im going to end this here before i ramble too much, it can be pretty hard for me to stop talking about pokémon once i get started since its my biggest interest ever. im looking forward to talking about it more with you all!3 points

3 pointsHi Everyone, Super excited MMC is back! I was on the old one (I went by my middle name Barry back then) I started playing pokemon at 4 and have been catching 'em all since! :) Not sure what else to say so I'll go over some fun facts about me and my love for pokemon / nintendo My favorite pokemon is sewaddle My favorite types are grass, fairy, water My favorite legendaries are suicune, ogrepon, rayquaza My first game console was a green Gameboy color My switch model is the splatoon with the cool gradient joycons I own 5 different GBAs and 6 DS systems (overboard???) When I was 13 I won a regional tournament have never won anything since LOL At my university I once found a lefeon doll on the ground (fate???) and took it home, washed it, and have loved it since.3 points

Also thank you for showcasing my work JohtoTimes, that was very kind of you. This time it's Cubone's turn. I also tried my hand at a R&G style sprite for it.2 points

2 pointsI just realized MMC is back! I was one of the admins of the original MMC 20(?!) years ago, so it was a pleasant surprise when I stumbled on the site this morning. Some things about me: My first game was Pokémon Yellow Version and I was obsessed. When I was a kid I ran a small site called Pokémon Sky which was a great creative outlet for me. It was never huge but I learned so much about web content and development. MMC was a big part of my life back then. I didn't realize it, but that was going to shape the rest of my life haha. In my teens, I became more involved in the entertainment industry as a whole and started contributing to some fandom-centric outlets like MuggleNet. A lot of the friends I made there went on to found a site called Hypable which was a pretty big fandom destination for years. In college I founded a news organization that covered the young adult publishing industry. I did that for a decade — producing podcasts, covering news, attending publishing events and book cons, interviewing authors and working with the major publishing houses. I "retired" from book journalism two years ago. I write books and am nearing completion on a sci-fi/fantasy novel I've been hacking away at for 9 years (re-wrote it three times and am on the sixth draft). Hoping to finish it up this summer. Continued playing Pokémon throughout it all. :) Pokémon Favorites: Pokémon HeartGold Johto's my favorite, probably for nostalgic reasons Legends Arceus is my favorite of the newer games Can never decide between Umbreon, Cyndaquil and Snorlax Always back and forth between Mew and Celebi as my favorite mythical can you tell i'm partial to the earlier generations? lol but in reality there's a lot to like about the newer games These days I'm working in the news publishing industry and am frustrated by the decisions publishers have made during the last couple of decades. Like it's already been suggested here, everyone gave all their power to platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Google. Now content creators are paying the price for it as algorithms are manipulated and these companies cannibalize content by feeding it to AI and spitting it out in automated summaries. I've thought a lot about the old MMC during the last few years. I've missed those days. I feel like we content creators became so obsessed with growing traffic and making our sites as big as can be and we lost community and fostering positive connections in the process. I'm more nostalgic than ever for smaller communities. World domination sucks, friends are better. Ok, I'm off my soap box. 😅 Excited to see what comes of this and get to know you all!2 points

I don't like Scalpers
2 pointsI try (with difficulty) to be professional and as neutral as possible when it comes to everything I write, but speaking personally I despise everything that is going on with this hobby. As a fellow collector, I have struggled to obtain older cards to complete my childhood collections, and even more so with Pokémon Scarlet & Violet 151. There are some incredibly selfish people out there who only care about the money, and how much of it they can make. No consideration is given to genuine collectors, players, and the target audience who are children. I also don't believe The Pokémon Company are going to do much about it, when all of this is benefitting them financially. Stores certainly won't, given how much money they're making, it's a guarenteed seller! I hope TPC do print all of these cards into the ground, but maybe they should create less sets, and publish them for longer periods? Having a new set every 2-3 months is a huge problem.2 points

Hi there!
2 pointsHello everyone! I've been a Pokemon fan since 2000, when they started broadcasting anime in my country. I used to collect TAZO back then. Then came the games: FireRed, Ruby, Silver. I also played everything up to and including the 6th generation. My favourite Pokemon games were probably Crystal, Emerald and Platinum. I pre-ordered Pokemon Sun, but went down the route 3 and threw the console a corner. I also stopped watching anime during the Sun & Moon broadcast period. I recently got back into Pokemon after a few years and am intensively catching up. I've watched Pokemon Journeys and Pokemon Horizons as well as the backlog of 5 cinema movies. I'm also playing Pokemon White again. Maybe after that it will be time for the abandoned Pokemon Sun. On top of that, I'm thinking about buying a Switch 2. In the previous decade I wrote a lot on various Polish Pokemon sites as an editor or editor-in-chief. Now I've set up my own site, Poketto.pl (it's a week old). I am very excited about the return of the Mt. Moon Community! Hi again!2 points

Welcome to the (re-) opening of Mt. Moon Community: A Pokémon forum for fans!
I very excited and happy to be able to welcome Pokémon fans back to the official forum of the PokéJungle website, Mt. Moon Community! First started way back in 2006, we ultimately closed it and transitioned to a forum that was simply "PokéJungle Forums". But I think we lost a lot of uniqueness in that move and, ultimately, our forums closed with the continued popularity of social media sites which hosted discussions that would have previously taken place on forums. Over the years, I had really wanted to bring back Mt. Moon but I had let the domain lapse and it got taken by domain squatters. I would still periodically check if it had been released though, and, to my great happiness, I could reclaim mountmoon.net. Yes, I know I could have found a similar domain, but this feels like reclaiming a piece of the forum's 10-year history. Is this 2005? Why do we need a Pokémon forum? It seemed like social media was really the evolution of the forum — you could make friends across the platforms and weren't confined to primarily interest-based websites, didn't have to register for a gazillion forums, could easily share short-form content and images and they were ultimately just very convenient. But I think it is getting clearer and clearer that platforms controlled by some of the world's wealthiest people are ultimately not making the internet a better place. Whether that's through the spread of misinformation, the pushing of controversial content to generate engagement or arbitrary enforcement of rules on their users, no social media platform has really come out looking good. Today, some seem extremely detrimental. That's why I believe that forums are a good option for people to use to discuss Pokémon or anything else. Mt. Moon Community is still evolvingJust like a Clefairy, Mt. Moon still has room to grow and evolve. Please have fun, be respectful and let us know any feedback you have so we can continue to improve! Much love, PokéJungle2 points

Introduction
2 pointsHeya! I'm Hal Kozak, or HalKozy, and I've been a Pokémon fan since 1999. I started with Pokémon Blue and was hooked on the series like many fellow 90s kids were. I got out of Pokémon for a bit after beating Sapphire in 2003, then got back in with SoulSilver in 2010 and have stayed a fan ever since. I'm so glad forums seem to be making a comeback online. When certain social media platforms began to collapse, I made the prediction we'd see a rise in forums again, so I hope this will be a continued trend across fandoms. Nice to meet you!2 points

Introductions by Johto Times
2 pointsHello everyone! Johto Times here. I have been a Pokémon fan since it was first released here in the UK back in 1999. I have a fondness for the earliest era of the franchise, and express that with a weekly newsletter. I am extremely happy to see a returning forum from the past! @pokejungle has been extremely supportive towards my project since it's infancy, and I am proud to call our two projects friends. When the conversation moved from close-knit forum communities, to social media, we lost a lot of the uniqueness and charm that passion projects brought with them. Likes, retweets, being seen, going viral, it was all about being popular and being better than others. Suddenly, our messages were reaching far beyond their intended circle, and now the world was our stage. In return, we were exposed to many unsavoury types, and gave the billionaire social media companies our time and data. The conversation was dictated by the people making the initial post, and the ability to create our own topics in a shared space disappeared. While forum software didn't move as quickly to accomodate the tech, they were genuine and heartfelt. They were a source of creativity, a place where we could share fanfiction, artwork, and our excitement and passion. I miss them, and I hope this can be the start of a resurgence within the community to create our own space, express ourselves, and enjoy each other's company. Forums absolutely deserve to return, and I am pleased to see an older community return. I look forward to making new friends here, whether that be returning users from the past, or brand-new contributors who are using the forum for the first time. Best of luck to the team, and I hope this will be a huge success! With Mt. Moon, we have an opportunity to shape it in an image that we can be proud of.2 points

Introductions by Johto Times
2 pointsThanks very much for the warm welcome, and your kind words about the newsletter. While it's a very kind offer, I would feel like I was exploiting your community to promote my words, and right now the focus is to help to grow this forum and its audience! In the future, if I share something relevant, then I may consider it :) Keep up the great work! Thanks for your kind words also, and the warm welcome! I don't think we can expect forums to replace social media, and we should try to make those platforms work for us to help grow our small forums. Show people that there is an alternative out there to the norm, and how it can be beneficial! Even then, a small, close-knit community is far better than a large and overwhelming one.2 points

Greetings, Trainers!
2 pointsHey, I'm berry! My favorite Pokémon is a three-way-tie between Wartortle, Walking Wake, and Dragonite. My favorite egg group is the monster egg group and if I were a gym leader I would have a Kaiju themed gym with a bunch of different teams referencing Kaiju and Kaiju-esque creatures. I like playing the Pokémon TCG, I play pocket, and enjoy learning Pokémon lore. I think Legends ZA looks interesting, but I'm not completely convinced. I like the 3 starter options and would likely choose Totodile. I have not caught up with the new Pokémon anime. I am around episode 30 and it feels like a slog at this point, but I'm looking forward to catching up since I heard it gets better. What are your thoughts about these different topics? I like that the franchise has so many different ways to engage in the hobbies. I look forward to being part of the community and appreciate this step taken by Poké Jungle. Thanks for reading! Mt. Moon Suggestion Thread
2 pointsI like the idea of the Discord & Forums working closely together. Is there a way for a bot to notify the discord when someone creates a new topic? There could be a specific channel for it. No worries if this is a bad idea. I think it'll be cool for people to understand this isn't replacing the discord, but working with it.2 points

Did you pre-order a Nintendo Switch 2?
Curious about what our MMC members have decided about Nintendo's latest console. I think there are a lot of good reasons for people to wait, not least of all because of the price, but the jump in specs and additional features also make it an exciting release. The original Switch is already 8 years old (maybe I'm getting old but it doesn't feel like it's already been eight years, haha) so many people have been waiting for its successor for awhile. Personally, I did end up pre-ordering because I want to be able to cover any Pokémon news for my website. If I wasn't running PokéJungle, I don't know if I would have picked it up immediately. I actually waited to buy the original Switch until LGPE was announced. There's also the downside of pre-ordering that you get the only launch color available and, based on historical trend, we'll probably see a Pokémon version released at some point.1 point

Johto Times Favourite Pokémon Poll 2025
Thank you! Yes, I was unsure if I should even attempt it, because if the poll doesn't reach far, the results won't give an accurate view. Thankfully, voting is going beyond expectations at the moment, and if the pace of this keeps up, we are going to see some really clear results and insight into which Pokémon people love!1 point

Anime ideas you'd like to see revisited in future Pokémon games
I've always wanted to be able to visit the Anime-exclusive locations in-game. I loved the Orange Island badges, for example. In general, my dream Pokemon game involves combining all locations-- games (spin-off and mainline) and anime and letting us explore them all to the fullest. I think Pokemon Stadium did a neat thing where your Pokemon's hue changed slightly based off the nicknames. Having more ways Pokemon can be unique is really cool. The Pinkan berry is an obvious ones, but also like how there has been a Pikachu with blue eyes. I definitely think we can see more physical differences, especially now that we have height/weight differences as well in-game.1 point

Technology or trends you miss
1 pointI pretty much always carry a Game Boy and iPod with me. I've been doing that for about seven years now. (My favorite was when I attended a book conference several years ago in NYC. I was playing Pokémon Yellow as I was standing in lines waiting to meet authors. Three people came up to me—they had brought their own Game Boys and were all playing Pokémon too!) I also had a Creative Zen mp3 player that I loved. It was the credit card sized model. Looking back on it, not the best mp3 player in the world but I loved how sleek it was and spent hours customizing the wallpaper. Also loved my Palm Pilot lol. I wanted to write stories in the car on that thing but spent most of my time playing games, drawing pictures, and trying to upload as many movies as possible on it because I dreamed of a day when I could have access to my favorite movies on a pocketable device. Oekaki boards. Does Twitter count? 100% this. MSN Messenger came to mind for me too haha. Even AIM was fun, but never as sleek looking as MSN.1 point

Classic Pokémon items and merchandise
Unfortunately I don't think I have much of these anymore but the ones that stick out the most from my childhood are: This Pikachu plush that I carried everywhere until the yellow started fading and the whites of its eyes disappeared, making it look like a demon. (I know I still have this one but no idea where it is) This big headed Munchlax doll that my mom bought me at a touring Pokémon event. Also know I kept this one, but no idea where haha. The iconic electric Pokédex toy. I remember this being so important to me. Maybe I'm remembering this wrong but I feel like there was an Eon Ticket event — you had to go to Toys "R" Us? — I could be off. But there was some kind of Gen 3 event at Toys "R" Us. Either way, we were like the last ones in line and the dudes running the thing gave us a box of leftover posable Pokémon figures that they had been giving away for free. I remember they were made of soft plastic and were lightweight and hollow inside. We had a Mewtwo and I think Latios, Latias, and some others I can't remember. I Googled but am not seeing any pics. I've enjoyed going back through the memories of old merch via your newsletter!1 point

Technology or trends you miss
1 pointI also really miss phones with keyboards. I loved the Dreamcast's VMU and wish that was still a thing. Especially as I loved StreetPass on the 3DS and I feel it could work well with a similar feature for Switch. I also miss MSN Messenger, honestly...1 point

What's the most recent pokemon game you've replayed?
I’ve been playing Blue lately! For all the years I’ve played Pokémon I’ve never actually completed a Pokédex, so I’ve set out to complete my Pokédex in Pokémon Red. I’ve gotten as far as I can in Red and now need to beat Blue to catch the remaining ones. I’m at about ~125/151 right now.1 point

1 pointFact. HG/SS are great, at the same time G/S/C continue to be mega playable. HG/SS bring additions to the originals, but the original games still have that GameBoy Color vibe (nostalgia? simplicity?) and I still consider them probably the best games in the whole series. I haven't played anything on Switch yet. Now I'm thinking of getting a Switch 2. Let's hope it has backwards compatibility, because Legends Arceus interests me.1 point

1 pointI agree — the atmosphere around Johto is gorgeous! I still love the way it looks when playing Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal and I love how much HeartGold/SoulSilver added to it. Legends Arceus was the most fun I've had playing a new Pokémon game in years. It felt fresh but also familiar. I loved little touches like being stealthy to not scare Pokémon away — interacting with them in new ways before being able to catch them. Scarlet and Violet brought some of those conventions over but not all of them, and it didn't feel as charming (still had fun playing it though).1 point

1 pointWelcome back! I think like you when it comes to forums and communities. May this and other forums be successful and not global ‘community’ molochs. Johto is wonderful. I think it's not just nostalgia, but a brilliant atmosphere. Possibly the best of the Pokemon regions. I haven't played Legends Arceus yet. What did you like about it?1 point

Entering Mt. Moon
1 pointHello everyone, I came from Bsky and am now entering Mt. Akagi Moon as well. I do agree that centralized social media platforms create an uncomfortable enviroment and am glad that forums get another chance. As for myself I played Pokémon since 2003, but got started with Pokémon Red. Used games were cheaper back then so I got that instead of the GBA games. Eventually though I got my hands at Leafgreen and Emerald and really got to see how much quality of life improvements were made through the generations. Suddenly everthing looked so clean and colourful and the music had so much more depth. I still adore the GB games though, they're classics for a reason. Of course I got to see Ken Sugimori's watercolour illustrations and since then he is a big inspiration to me. I'll try to upload some of my fanarts more or less frequently here in the forum. See you around.1 point

Johtoan Greninja
1 pointHey, Mt Moon! This is my concept for a regional variant of Geninja that leans more into the bandit style of ninja, with inspiration from Naruto frogs. This Geninja keeps the bubble motif from the previous stages and forms a club, and well as bubble clones and bombs. I'm not sure if it stays pure water type or if it gains the fighting type. For the sprite, I went with the GSC style. What do y'all think?1 point

Scopely buys Pokémon GO and other Niantic titles
As a player of Pokémon GO from day one, this has concerned me greatly. Not just the purchase, but everyting leading up to it. Despite it being a temporary measure during COVID-19, it was hard to forgive Niantic for reversing their stance on remote raid passes. A lot of people who couldn't normally play due to their health, whether that be a disability or mental health reasons, an opportunity to play remotely and be a part of the wider community. My PERSONAL opinion, is that they are happy with the data they collected from their users, and can earn more with that, than video games. https://nianticlabs.com/news/largegeospatialmodel As for the game itself? How would YOU want to get a return on your $3.5 billion investment? Personally I can see a lot more monetisation. I absolutely loved Pokémon GO, it was an opportunity to make new friends locally, it improved my mental health, and it rejuvinated my love for Pokémon However, I am prepared to pull my Pokémon from the game if I don't like what I see in the future.1 point

Hello!!
1 pointHello, I'm Hal! ^^ Nice to meet you! I hopped right on here as soon as I saw the post on bsky. I've been sorely missing forums (im so sick of social media lol) I started playing pokemon with Gen 2, when Gen 3 released (i was a gen behind haha). My favorite pokemon has been Typhlosion for a long time, but there's so many good pokemon now its hard to decide. Some other general faves are Metagross, Goodra, Hydrapple, Dragonite, Gliscor, Walking Wake, Slither Wing, Centiskorch, Eiscue, 10% Zygarde, and Giratina. Despite liking so many dragon-types, my favorite type is Steel! One of my big goals are getting an original DS/DS Lite, or getting a fancy modded GBA/GBASP, since I don't have any of my childhood consoles, I'm primarily an artist- I mostly draw LGBT stuff (""ship art"") and stickers for my etsy shop! I'm getting back into drawing more pokemon stuff tho, after pokemon (and everything else) was on the backburner for a few years during my 5 year FFXIV Fever. Anyway, getting back into doing more pokemon art and shiny hunting primarily. I'm dipping my toes into making shiny hunting videos and stuff, but I like all kinds of pokemon content, not just shiny hunting. Hope to make some connections here, and really hoping forums pick up again just like how analog and physical media is also making its comeback ^^1 point
